Dr. José Canosa, Ph.D.

 

Meeting Our Energy Needs: The Role of Nuclear Power

 

Dr. José Canosa received a B.S. in Physics at the University of Barcelona and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics at Harvard University. He was a staff Scientist at the IBM Scientific Center in Palo Alto, California, from 1967 to 1976, where he received an Outstanding Contribution Award for his research work in neutron physics and atmospheric physics. From 1964 to 1967 he worked at the Vallecitos Atomic Laboratory of the General Electric Company at Pleasanton, California, where he carried out his research in nuclear reactor safety. He was a lecturer in nuclear engineering at the University of California, Berkeley; and spent a sabbatical year at the Plasma Physics Laboratory of Princeton University doing research in fusion reactors.

Back in Spain, he was Catedrático “ad honorem” at the Universidad Autónima de Madrid and then Professor of Computer Sciences at the University Alfonso X El Sabio. He founded an educational software firm, and published seven books, ranging from scientific policy to computer sciences to scientific numerical computations.
