Alférez de Fragata Marcial Gamboa Garcías de Lomas
This is our pre-summer informal dinner when we host the top graduating cadet from the Spanish Naval Academy in Mahon.
Our padrino Captain Stuart D. Bailey will be Master of Ceremonies.
After dinner we will ask Alférez de Fragata Marcial Gamboa to give us some words about his Academy experiences and thoughts about his departure to the US the next day.
Annually we send the top cadet to the Washington-Baltimore area and thence Norfolk for the better part of ten days. Our fellow Navy League Councils there host the cadet, show him around Washington, and arrange a trip to the US Naval Academy. In Norfolk he is introduced to the Naval Facilities, usually including ship and museum visits of a naval or seagoing nature.
Please do make an effort to attend. The informality of the evening makes for a nice entry into the summer and our closure until September. Thanks to our host and fellow member Ronny Abagi the food and service is always a treat.
For those who are new, the dress for this is shirtsleeves and sport clothing.
